AFL-CIO IN WV. Not only have they sucked dues from each paycheck they have started sucking money from the bonuses and any other monies an employee gets. There are 2 drafts from the pay check. We cannot get an explanation of the second nor can we get an explanation for the theft of money from a bonus based off stock/years of employment/safety - they refuse to disclose the use of the money or the "excuse" for drafting extra. Get a majority of your local to demand a disclosue of the due you are paying and how they are being spent. Your local should file a suit against the union management to give you full disclosure or not be able to collect dues. File in a conservitive state if possible. This will also bring the illegal Union practices to the notice of the public, if it is done in Federal court.
Unions were needed in their beginnings to protect all workers from abuse. But, today, they are strictly taking dues and handing it over to the Democrat Party. The SEIU, a Communist union, is now in a world-wide development process and currently endorses US candidates of both parties. The goal of unions in to go beyond the US and cause millions of workers to form one world union (just like the one-world government, religion, economy, etc). I was once a union member and on several occasions was asked to contribute to various democratic candidates and writing a personal check and handing it over to a union steward so as to make it look like a personal donation. these checks were then collected by upper echelon union members and given to various democratic candidates avoiding the PAC label. The union when questioned stated that they were not a PAC when in actually they were. it still exists today. we found later what candidates got the money even though we did nt like some of them

I must say that our government's actions, or lack of, are just as crooked. Some of the financial costs are not easily spotted but the following is 95% preventable!!!! For example, it is costing at least $100B for every unemployment benefits extension, so imagine the impact of 8 million of our unemployed going back to work instead of "allowing" 8 million illegals to keep their jobs and it would stop most of the forced costs to us Obama admitted to when he said "illegals go to the ER and we pay for it"! If they "seriously" enforced current immigration laws that work and used voluntarily by hundreds of thousands of businesses and thousands signing up every month, 95% of those jobs would open up for our unemployed! For those businesses that claim it is a hardship, bull. It takes less than 2 minutes to type in the information and get a response! As of now, states and our unemployed are struggling to survive unnecessarily! And for those who say Americans, including legal immigrants, won't do those jobs, if they paid a decent wage most would and paying a little more for fruits and vegetables is nothing compared to the current costs as described above! For the ones who wouldn't, if I can run a tiller from a wheelchair, there's no excuse for most of them. You do what you have to to put food on the table!! When Democrats say we need Comprehensive Immigration Reform to enforce the laws, again E-Verify is used voluntarily by hundreds of thousands of businesses and thousands sign up every month!! How many of the pro-amnesty elected officials and pro-amnesty supporters are willing to give up their job or only means of support to an illegal worker? I agree there shouldn't be any unions for professional workers, such as machine techs, teachers, or any other profession that require's a college education.
The money collected by the unions should be for support of the workers in that union, not for political contributons.

I was a member of the unions as was my step dad, We were both in the teamsters at the time Jimmie Hoffa was in charge, Later I was a member of the painters union, Both were as crooked as a dogs hind leg. unless I am mistaken the teamsters were one of the first to borrow from the social security fund. That fund was to be a money generating fund, did not take them long to ruin it. The painters local used to tell you who to vote for, or lose your job. I was and still am a member of local uaw 813 in phila.I worked 31 years for budd co in philly.I retired in 2000 with 31 years service.I am a retired member still pay dues at a lower rate.Our local was as clean as a whistle as far as I know.The leaders will tell you who to vote for in elections but didn't force anyone to vote for their people.WE had freedom to speak out at meetings.No one was intimadated for speaking out.Budd co closed their phila plant several years ago.Anyway for the most part we had a clean union.

Once union members find out what their dues are being spent on, what can they do about it if they don't like it.
We tried to opt out of our dues going to support certain political candidates, but that didn't fly.
