Worker Advocate: Obama General Counsel Opposition “A Bald-faced Lie of Weiner-esque Proportions”
Machinist union bosses join with NLRB Acting General Counsel to tell workers to “sit down and shut up” about losing their jobs
Washington, DC (June 8, 2011) – Yesterday, Acting General Counsel Lafe Solomon, International Association of Machinist (IAM) union lawyers, and Boeing Company (NYSE: BA) attorneys responded to a motion filed by three North Charleston Boeing employees seeking to intervene in the National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) case against Boeing.
The North Charleston employees are receiving free legal assistance from the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation. The NLRB’s complaint, if successful, would almost certainly eliminate thousands of jobs in South Carolina, including those of the three Boeing workers represented by Foundation attorneys.
Foundation President Mark Mix released the following statement in response to the Acting General Counsel’s and IAM union lawyers’ opposition to the employees’ motion:
“Acting General Counsel Solomon’s and the IAM union lawyers’ opposition to the Charleston employees’ motion to intervene in the NLRB’s persecution of Boeing is a slap in the face of all independent-minded American workers and citizens who support duly-enacted Right to Work laws in their states that protect employees’ choice over whether or not to financially support a union.
“Solomon’s argument that the South Carolina workers have no stake in the shutdown of the facility in which they are employed is a disingenuous attempt to silence workers whose very livelihoods are in jeopardy. This is a bald-faced lie of Weiner-esque proportions.

Right to Work: Tale of two states
President Obama campaigned through North Carolina commiserating with various small employers and promising to create jobs… again. ‘America needs jobs’, he might say to one and to another something like ‘small business is the backbone of American jobs’. Then he went off to the next employer or gathering of left-over employees, shook a bunch of hands and tried to smile on cue for members of the embedded press corps.
That would be ‘CORE’ not ‘CORPSE’, the latter of which is more like America’s work force after Pelosi took the gavel in 2007. Sure, Bush held her off for a while, but when Democrat financier Soros put his ill-gotten gains to work ravaging the crude oil futures market through shills in Belgium and The Netherlands, all the efforts of one were dashed. In the end, Bush’s tax-rebate payment was the only tool left in the box. Pelosi won that round; as a result all of us suffer.
‘Stimulus’ was the new catch word and a whole lot of supporting rubbish about Franklin and post-Depression policy was used to sell the program. Had one penny of those funds actually been applied to support small business or lenders, things would have been just a little different. Instead of every American shouldering the blame and cost of rising rates, more difficult borrowing criteria, reduction in values and vanishing equities will continue to suffer, or be made to join the suffering having exhausted everything that resembled their personal ‘Rainy Day Fund’. No, the stimulus program was fat-catted quite nicely to those bigots and thieves on the boards of every Democrat Party supporter.
This is supposed to be a good thing as it will ‘teach’ a lesson. Huge sums of money were doled out as grants with instructions to pigeon-hole them until late FY2011 when they would be pulled out, dusted off and spread out amongst the Teacher’s and Public Sector Unions. Phenomenal pay raises and ‘hold the line’ budgets have already brought the long-promised tax hikes, so this is icing on the cakes for both Unionists and Democrat politicians. The marvelous windfalls will provide much needed campaign donations for the 2012 campaign. If you hurry, you can donate your $3000 this year and another $3000 next year. The funds, not otherwise available, come complete with instructions decrying the ‘end of the world’ efforts to provide Democrats with much needed campaign cash.
It doesn’t matter who is running, just so long as you cut them in for their $6000 before it is too late. Besides, when the Republicans win in 2012, there will be a long time between pay raises and you need to take care of your ‘friends’. Thanks Nancy, Deval and Harry.
So the President is in North Carolina having flopped in Ohio, Illinois and Michigan. I’ll bet you were thinking that the President is on record stopping Boeing from building a plant in South Carolina. Yes, the Defense Aircraft Giant wanted to build a plant in a Right-to-Work state, creating hundreds if not thousands of jobs from the ground up, provide training and actually stimulate the machine tool and shop business providing component parts for an established business model that works.
Ok, so Right-to-Work implies non-Union but doesn’t prohibit either. It would be a model test for Boeing to shutter similar operations in other Union-only states and provide an operating cushion in the competitive market. Honda, Nissan and Toyota have already done that in Union-only states, by creating a Right-to-Work enterprise zone. Boeing was using their own money; the Japanese three were using U.S. tax money to stimulate the economies in states in need back in the 1980-90’s. The result of that experiment is U.S.-built foreign cars. We get the salaries, some benefits and Japan gets the profit. While there seems to be a rise in tax revenues owed to the new jobs, one needs to inspect a little further to understand that U.S. tax money was granted to the big Japanese three to train the new work force, so I’m quite sure we have lost much more in the exchange than you might be first willing to concede.
Boeing was using their own money. If South Carolina weren’t a Right-to-Work state, let alone Republican by degrees of nature, Boeing might well have petitioned the Federal Government for assistance to build there. Instead, Boeing tried to be a trailblazer and got bitch-slapped by Obama and Holder.
And then, shortly thereafter, wondering why there are no jobs being created or listening to the stagnation and declination of wages; fumbling through Pelosi’s wildly skewed chart showing 2.5M jobs created, but not saying ‘Saved’ so you won’t connect the dots to the stored stimulus funds busted out of the Unionist state cookie jars, he has the unmitigated gall to go to North Carolina to campaign.
You just know, if Obama had any balls, he would have gone to South Carolina, stood on any makeshift podium and declared that the jobs would be created here except South Carolina is Republican and anti-Union. He could threaten them all further by promising to bring the jobs and stimulus grants if only they would vote the Democrats into power and strike from the books all the Right-to-Work laws so the Unionists could take control.
Nope, not this guy. He’ll stand across the border and give the South the Bronx cheer.
